Core Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Operation: Directly manages the maintenance and repair of the ship's main propulsion system and auxiliary machinery, including generators, boilers, and refrigeration systems.
• Personnel Management: Distributes daily work assignments to junior engineers (3rd and 4th Engineers) and engine ratings, ensuring all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
• Pollution Prevention: Serves as the officer in charge of pollution prevention equipment, such as Oily Water Separators (OWS) and sewage treatment plants, ensuring strict compliance with MARPOL regulations.
