Access Specialist - PRN - Float

The Access Specialist prepares and processes all documentation necessary for Outpatient/Inpatient registration to St.
James Parish Hospital in accordance with the policies and procedures of St.
James Parish Hospital.
Job Duties: Collects complete demographic and financial information from the patient and/or family at the time of registration in a courteous and professional manner.Explains pertinent policies, rights, and consents per federal and state regulatory guidelines.
Obtains appropriate signatures on all forms applicable to the patient type.Confirms that the physician orders have the five appropriate components on it.
Verify tests ordered meet criteria for medical necessity.
Obtains necessary signatures if an Advanced Beneficiary Notice is required.Verifies the patients insurance eligibility.
Identifies and understands patient benefits and financial responsibility.
