Advanced Medical Support Assistant

Summary The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) outpatient clinic clerk at the Beckley VAMC works within the Specialty and Perioperative Service Line. The AMSA provides administrative support to Physicians, Physician's Assistants, Nurses, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Dieticians, Social Workers, and other administrative and professional staff. The AMSA schedules appointments, coordinates diagnostic testing, and consultative appointments for multiple clinical services. Responsibilities As front line contact with Veterans, family members and staff of all levels, the incumbent sets the tone for the perception of quality healthcare and best business practices within the facility. The AMSA performs administrative duties to ensure the proper and timely treatment of Veterans.
