Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic

Summary This position of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic is assigned to work in the Engineering Services, Facility Operations Section of the Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning Shop at the Long Beach, VHA facility. Responsibilities Changing filters and cleaning coil surfaces on a wide variety of heating and cooling equipment, including furnaces, air handling units and fan coil units. Cleaning and repairing fan coil units to include replacement of multi-speed motors, fans, and switches. Removing covers to fan coil units and making visual and audible checks for dust, dirt, and mechanical and electrical defects. Using prescribed test procedures, voltage testers, and hand tools common to the trade in locating problems and repairing fan coil units.
