Island Health has an opportunity for a full‑time Anesthesiologist to join their team at the Comox Valley Hospital. The Comox Valley Hospital is a new 150‑bed community hospital with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, featuring six operating rooms (five in use and one reserved for emergency caesarean sections).
Job responsibilities include providing anesthesia for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics, as well as for ECT, cardioversion, and emergency intubations in the ER and ICU. The department also runs a consultation clinic and a rover position outside of the OR.
Weekday call schedule: 15:00–08:00 with mandatory on‑site coverage until 20:00, followed by home call. Pre‑call and post‑call are off. Weekend and stats: 24‑hour call 08:00–08:00 with mandatory on‑site coverage 08:00–12:00.
