Animal Control Officer

Position Purpose/Summary
Responsible for providing assistance to stray, lost, ill, injured, and abandoned animals. Work is involved with enforcing all City and state laws and ordinances regarding animals. Work is performed under the supervision of the TJO Executive Director. No supervision is exercised over other employees.

Essential Functions

• Serves as a professional and courteous representative of the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center. Serves as a role model for the public and volunteers, ensuring that a positive approach is maintained with the public at all times.
• Possesses knowledge of animal capture and handling techniques.
• Ensures that proper care and attention is provided to all animals in the facility's custody in accordance with the facility's policies, procedures and any applicable laws.
