:The first two modules of the course will focus on how to design, negotiate and implement an international trade strategy. The classes will combine lectures with case studies, presentations, and discussions on the fundamentals of trade agreements, trade policy formulation and trade strategy.

The final module of the course will be a simulation of the negotiation of a prospective free trade agreement. In teams, students will plan negotiating strategies based on confidential mandate letters and implement these strategies in bilateral negotiation sessions. Students will also draft and present country statements and draft legal texts to be negotiated throughout the simulation.
