Job Description
The individual will feed, water, and examine animals for signs of illness, disease, or injury sustained in the laboratory. This individual must be comfortable with handling live birds and caring for them. The applicant will collect biological data and may assist in entering data electronically and reviewing data for reports.
Avian Technician responsibilities include:
Feed, water and care for birds
Weigh, band and examine birds
Assist with egg collection
Collect biological data
Assist in drawing blood
Effectively communicate with senior staff and quality assurance representatives on the care of birds and collection of data
Qualifications
Skills:
Computer and organizational skills are a plus
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
