Key duties include taking customer orders, making drinks, operating coffee machines, handling payments, and keeping the café area tidy. Baristas should have good communication skills, an understanding of coffee, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. Experience is often preferred but not always required. They must also follow health and safety standards and be able to lift moderate weights. Flexible working hours are common, including weekends and holidays.
