The Master
The Master represents the company. He must bear in mind that his decisions and actions are binding with the company and he shall undertake the functions of his office using his best judgment at all times.
- Master's Overriding Authority
The Master has authority under the law over all persons on board the ship.
The Master has the absolute command on board and has full authority in the overall aspects of its safe operation at all times. Notwithstanding, anything contained in this Manual or other Company instructions; the Master shall take action based on his judgment whatever is necessary for the protection of life, property and the environment.
The Master is the only one responsible for the seaworthiness; safe, efficient, and economic operation of the vessel; and safety of all personnel, cargo, and equipments on board. The Master may alter the vessel's trade routes and abandon the vessel or its voyage if with good rea...
