Core Responsibilities

• Overall Technical Ownership: Heads the engine department and supervises all engineering officers and ratings, typically through the Second Engineer.
• Machinery Management: Oversees the main propulsion engines, boilers, generators, and auxiliary systems (pumps, refrigeration, etc.) to ensure a trouble-free voyage.
• Environmental Compliance: Serves as the designated Environmental Control Officer, ensuring the vessel adheres to MARPOL regulations for pollution prevention and waste management.
• Resource Planning: Manages bunkering operations (fuel and lubricants), maintains spare parts inventories, and monitors daily fuel consumption.
