With the introduction and passage of Bill 48, the iGaming Alberta Act, the province has established the legal framework for a competitive, innovative, and socially responsible digital gaming ecosystem. The launch of Alberta’s private, regulated iGaming market will make it the second Canadian province to permit private iGaming operators to participate in a controlled iGaming environment. A newly created Crown corporation, the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), will be responsible for conducting and managing the market as well as contracting with private iGaming operators. By establishing the organizational structure and setting key provisions and requirements, the iGaming Alberta Act positions Alberta to create an open, commercial, and regulated iGaming market, and to become a global leader in the iGaming industry.
