About the Role

We are looking for a Corporate Counsel – Commercial to support our commercial activities (sales & marketing, trading, marine & logistics) in the Atlantic markets/region across Rio Tinto’s portfolio of commodities. The role is based in the Montreal office.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate sales and purchase contracts for commodity sales, purchase and trading, often requiring innovative structures relevant to financing and pricing.
• Understand and advise on commercial documents integral to the commodity supply chain.
• Manage commodity disputes and supply‑related matters.
• Maintain awareness of developments in laws and potential impacts on Rio Tinto’s business.
• Collaborate with Legal, Governance and Compliance & Ethics teams to promote and apply best legal practices.
