The Department of Microbiology in the Singapore General Hospital is the largest microbiology department in Singapore, providing diagnostic services in bacteriology, virology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology using a variety of techniques, including molecular diagnostics.

The Central Tuberculosis Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology processes over 80,000 specimens a year.
