Dental Hygienist

Position Summary

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, performs technical duties related to dental hygiene for clinical, research or teaching purposes. Assigns patients, assists staff and students in treatment of patients, acts as resource person, resolves problems, maintains equipment, and maintains records.

Clinic Radiology

• Demonstrate techniques for taking intraoral radiographs on manikins and patients.
• Assist and instruct students in taking radiographs, evaluate image quality and determine diagnostic suitability.
• Take panoramic, cephalometric images and CBCT scans on patients; instruct students in panoramic imaging.
• Collaborate with the department head to create evaluation criteria and assess student competencies via a competency exam.
• Supervise radiographs taken during endodontic and pediatric clinic, report mistakes to the clinical instructor.
