Dentist 1 (NY HELPS)

Duties Description This Dentist 1 position is a direct service position. The incumbent will provide professional dental care for youth who are in the custody of OCFS by diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries and malformations of teeth and gums. The Dentist 1 will perform a full-range of dental duties in connection with the treatment of dental diseases or dental health problems requiring corrective restorative or preventive measures as required by agency policy and procedures.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

Conduct examinations of individuals teeth and surrounding oral structures utilizing x-rays, mouth mirrors and other diagnostic procedures and instruments to determine pathological or irregular conditions.

Treat dental diseases, injuries and malfunctions of teeth and gums.

Perform restoration of simple and compound cavities.

Administer anesthetics.
