About the Position

The Manitoban is the official students’ newspaper of the University of Manitoba. The Design Editor is responsible for designing the layout of the print edition of the newspaper using Adobe InDesign. This is a process that equally balances the aesthetic needs of the paper with the requests of the Manitoban section editors. Regular duties include attending weekly meetings on Monday and Wednesday evenings, delegating layout duties to an associate, and designing ads for customers.

Qualifications

• Applicants should exhibit a flair for design as well as a working understanding of newspaper design.
• The ideal candidate has previous experience in graphic design and a thorough understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InCopy and InDesign.
