The Europainstitut / Institute for European Global Studies at the University of Basel is searching for a doctoral candidate in the field of European Global Studies / Global History (under the supervision of Professor Corey Ross), starting on 1 November 2026 (or a start date by prior agreement).

The Europainstitut ( is an interdisciplinary research institute of the University of Basel, which examines the historical and contemporary development of Europe from a global perspective and thereby engages with critical questions of our time.

Your position

• Providing support for research in the field of European Global Studies / global history (with an emphasis on environmental history) and the history of Europe in its global context (18th-20th centuries)
