Position: Doctoral Researcher – Fatigue of WAAM Structures

Responsibilities

• Conduct doctoral research focused on fatigue modeling of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) components and structures.
• Identify and characterize repeating surface features in WAAM builds; investigate geometry and material property effects on fatigue life.
• Develop and validate theoretical, numerical, and experimental methods to quantify the influence of local geometry imperfections such as undercuts on fatigue crack initiation.
• Integrate detailed geometry and microstructure data into physics‑based finite element simulations to predict fatigue life.
