Doctoral Researcher in nano-scale control of optical fields

Aalto University’s Department of Applied Physics invites applications for a four‑year Doctoral Researcher position focused on nano‑scale control of optical fields for image and photonic chip technologies. The successful candidate will design, fabricate and test novel nanofabricated optical components using advanced numerical methods and clean‑room facilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct theoretical and experimental research on nanoscale optical field manipulation and propagation.
• Design optical components with finite‑element and finite‑difference time‑domain methods, including inverse engineering and machine‑learning approaches.
• Fabricate samples using Aalto University clean‑room facilities and perform experimental characterization.
• Generate scientific ideas, prepare research proposals, write articles, and contribute to teaching activities.
