Project Overview
The Maputo Urban Transformation Project (PTUM), financed by the World Bank/IDA, aims to enhance urban infrastructure and institutional capacity within the City of Maputo. Among other activities, the project prioritizes improving solid waste infrastructure through the development of two major facilities: the KaTembe Sanitary Landfill and the Hulene Transfer Station, along with environmentally responsible decommissioning of the existing Hulene landfill. Extensive preparatory studies—including feasibility assessments, ESIA, conceptual engineering designs, and accompanying E&S safeguard instruments—have already been completed to guide implementation.


The project includes a dedicated design-build period (approximately two years), for which a Project Manager consultancy will supervise the contractor’s work as the Employer’s Representative under World Bank‑funded arrangements.
