Emergency Physician Assistant

Position Description

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Affairs and the Chief & Medical Director of Emergency Medicine, the Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with emergency medicine physicians in the assessment and treatment of a diverse patient population in the emergency department.

This role functions in accordance with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s policy on delegation and under approved hospital medical directives.

The Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant will follow a rotational schedule that includes weekdays, evenings and weekends. No overnight shifts or on‑call coverage will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, manage and disposition patients, under supervising physician, with a focus on:
  • Lower acuity patients who require fewer investigations
  • Patients that require a procedure before discharge such as casting, suturing, etc.
