Fabrication Specialist

Position Highlights Maintains, operates and oversees the operation of the model shop. Devises special test equipment required for the performance of high-level testing and research within the lab.

Duties

Produces, by fabrication and high precision machining, specialized research equipment by analyzing user requests in order to understand the intended application of equipment and to determine the most suitable materials, designs and fabrication techniques, determining and and/or modifying requirements and details to improve or meet specifications or allowing for machining/fabrication capabilities.

Devises special test equipment and designs new or prototype equipment required for internal and external clients, preparing working or finished drawings for tender, manufacturing or inclusion in reports, estimating the time and cost required to fabricate equipment and if required arranging for fabrication by outside shops; liaises with others within the industry to s...
