Fiber Optic Technician

Role Summary
Hands-on field role to maintain and restore live fiber optic networks. Responsible for fault repair, splicing, testing, and on-site coordination to ensure quick service restoration and network reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to fiber faults and breakdowns (planned & unplanned)
Perform fiber splicing, jointing, and cable restoration
Handle core identification, configuration, and fiber pair management
Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, Power Meter, Light Source
Ensure quality splicing, testing results, and basic documentation
Coordinate with local authorities, contractors, and external teams
Support route protection, patrolling, and preventive maintenance
Provide outage updates and restoration status (MTTR / ETTR)
Key Skills & Requirements
Strong experience in live fiber O&M
Hands-on with splicing and testing tools
Understanding of backbone fiber networks (96 / 432 / 864 core)
Ability to work on-site under pressure
