Fitter

The Fitter is directly responsible to the 2^nd Engineer in the discharge of his duties. He is responsible for the organization and allocation of tasks to the Engine Ratings according to the maintenance instructions received from the 2^nd Engineer. He must ensure that engine room spaces and machinery are kept clean as much as possible and that the engine room stairs, ladders and walkways are clear at all times. He ensures that all engine tools and instruments are properly maintained and kept in the correct location. He is expected to carry out any other tasks as and when directed by the engineer-on-duty.
