Job Description
Introduction Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure is seeking to fill 1 full time regular Forecast Engineer position.
Duties The Forecast Engineer is responsible for the provision of flood forecasts and information on the basins hydrologic conditions, which are used for flood preparedness and flood damage reduction by all three levels of government, for operation of the province’s water control structures, and for public safety and flood risk awareness. Major position responsibilities include development of hydrologic forecasting methodologies including advanced hydrologic models and real time application of such methodologies. The Engineer also prepares flood outlook reports, communicates flood risk to the public and advises the director on basin conditions.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in engineering (Civil preferred) or closely related discipline such as a degree in Science with specialization in Hydrology (Masters degree preferred)
