General Laborer

Location: Detroit, MI


Koil is a Detroit-based steel service center that processes and distributes various flat rolled metal products. Koil is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs and has an immediate opportunity for a General Laborer on Day Shift at our operation in Detroit. The General Laborer is responsible for the processing of scrap metals using various tools and equipment.


Summary of Responsibilities:
+ Set up and operate uncoiler and recoiler controls and arms and other slitter related equipment.
+ Assist operator on operation of slitter and packaging equipment.
+ Properly tag customer size on cuts and package according to written and verbal instruction.
+ Follow all safety procedures while operating and assisting on equipment. i.e. coil cart, banding tools, overhead cranes, forklifts.
+ Assist where needed when slitter is not running.
+ Maintain proper housekeeping in work area.
