General Maintainer (Burnside)

Overview

General Maintainers are members of the Nova Scotia Union of Public & Private Employees, Local 2. The General Maintainer contributes to the effective operation of the Physical Plants within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education and implements energy management stewardship principles. The position reports to the Manager of Maintenance and takes direction during shifts from on-duty maintenance supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labourer duties, building and grounds maintenance tasks, assist trades staff, and move materials and equipment.
• Contribute to maintenance tasks with general maintenance competence, physical capability, and troubleshooting aptitude as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
• Minimum three (3) years experience in a building maintenance environment.
