Job Description

A Hoist and Elevator operator works in construction sites and operate stationary and mobile cranes, lifts, hoists and winches to lift, move and place materials, equipment and people in building sites. They must check the condition of the ground, looking for potential obstacles. They must be aware of the safe working limits of their crane to ensure that loads are not too heavy.
Responsibilities and Duties
Hooks, raise, move and place loads
Monitor speed, acceleration and braking distances directly by signaling to other operators 
Monitor plant operation and equipment to detect malfunctions and problems
Lubricate ropes and winches
Replace worn cables
Requirements
The Hoist and Elevator operators may hold two different types of certificates:
Personnel Hoist and Construction Elevator Operator (PHCEO)
Car Switch and Construction Use Elevator Operator (CSOCEO)
Knowledge of mobile cranes, lifts, ...
