Overview

House Counsel – Litigation Defence Counsel (Property and Casualty) role at Chubb. Chubb is a world leader in insurance with operations in 54 countries. The Litigation Counsel will report to House Counsel’s Managing Lawyer in our Toronto office.

Major Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of legal work on all cases, including comprehensive written analyses and evaluation of liability and damages.
• Manage all aspects of the litigation process as defence counsel for Chubb insureds.
• Develop case resolution strategies and assist in settlement negotiations by applying appropriate litigation protocols.
• Conduct discovery, mediation, pre-trial, and trial proceedings as appropriate; prepare members of the Claims team, insureds and experts for proceedings as necessary.
• Research applicable laws and draft pleadings, motions, opinions, legal briefs and documents as required.
