Independent Prescriber – Wigan

Support people concerned about their own or others' alcohol or drug use within Wigan and Leigh communities. The service provides an integrated drug and alcohol service, delivering an asset‑based community approach to treatment, specialising in harm reduction, needle syringe provision, psycho‑social interventions, opioid substitution treatment, referrals to detox and community interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provide harm reduction and support and advice in relation to substance misuse clinics; assess and review prescribed treatment plans.
• Advise on detoxification.
• Participate in vaccination and blood testing programmes.
• Reach out to community members to offer proactive support and education.

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse, Registered Mental Nurse, or a Registered Pharmacist (GPhC).
