The Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science is responsible for both teaching and research in Physics at Stellenbosch University (SU) and offers an undergraduate and postgraduate physics degree. It also has strong links with other faculties and schools, and offers several service modules. The Department has established research programmes in photonics and laser physics, nuclear physics, theoretical physics, and astrophysics. The Department's teaching and research technical needs are supported by a highly skilled technical support team and a dedicated mechanical workshop and electronics support facility.
