Machine Learning Engineer

Contract: 6 months

Location: Remote (EU-based)

We are supporting a global tech organisation during a critical search platform migration and are looking for a freelance Machine Learning / Search Engineer to join the team for a 6-month engagement .

This role is focused on production search systems , not research or experimentation.

You will help migrate an existing Solr-based search stack to OpenSearch , ensuring search quality, relevance, and system parity throughout the transition.

• Migrating search components from Solr to OpenSearch
• Supporting keyword and semantic search use cases
• Maintaining and improving search relevance and ranking
• Ensuring parity between legacy and new systems
• Working closely with backend and data teams
