1. Medication Administration & Documentation

The morning shift is centered around the Morning Med Pass, which is often the largest of the day.

• Morning Med Pass: Administering scheduled medications for breakfast and mid-morning, ensuring the Six Rights of medication administration are followed for every resident.

• PRN Management: Assessing residents who request as needed medications for pain or indigestion and documenting the effectiveness of those medications later in the shift.

• Blood Glucose Monitoring: Performing finger-sticks for diabetic residents and administering insulin as prescribed before or after meals.

• MAR Accuracy: Ensuring every medication given is initialed in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) immediately to prevent double-dosing.
