Melting Furnace Operator

a. Job purpose

The Melting Furnace Operator will be responsible for melting specified metal before casting.

b. Duties and responsibilities

a. PRODUCTION

• Supervises and co-ordinates activities for melting procedures.
• Inspect the induction furnace and patch the refractory lining.
• Operate the 2.5-ton Induction Furnace.
• Monitor and regulate the induction furnace warming-up cycle.
• Record production data and maintain production logs.
• Weigh materials to be charged into furnaces, using scales.
• Taking of metals sample from the induction furnace for chemical analysis.
• Other Duties or Tasks as requested or required by management.
• Supervision of molten metal handling equipment (Ladles).
• Other Duties or Tasks as requested or required by management.

• Analyse samples from the furnace using the Spectrograph machine.
