Job Description

About the role

As a Mine Warfare Clearance Diving Officer (MCDO), you will work both above and below water. You will lead a team of up to 10 divers in explosive ordnance disposal, maritime security and mine clearance tasks. You will manage the overall diving function, including safety management, and provide advice about diving capabilities while working ashore in a headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and train a dive team, ensuring their continued training, well‑being, career progression and equipment maintenance.
  • Manage safety, plan and command dive operations.
  • Serve in operational deployments to coalition missions and serve on diving support vessels.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to other Defence Force organisations.
  • Maintain underwater skills through regular diving and physical training.
  • Prepare reports, plans and projects related to diving operations.
