Description of Role We’re looking for an energetic leader with rock-solid news judgment and a knack for generating original ideas to oversee the Ontario bureau of The Canadian Press. The successful candidate will be an experienced supervisor who has a hunger for breaking news and is able to mentor and inspire staff to unearth scoops and set the agenda. This manager will oversee a group of reporters in CP’s Toronto head office and our Queen’s Park correspondents.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Ontario news editor, oversees coverage of the news report in Ontario for CP’s digital, print, video and broadcast services

Supervises and schedules staff at Toronto head office and at Queen’s Park

Liaises with other CP bureaus and the Managing Editor to help co‑ordinate coverage

Assigns and edits stories
