Job Description

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Michale E. Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research is located in Bastrop, Texas on 300+ beautiful acres with ~2500 nonhuman primates including neotropical species, macaques, baboons, and chimpanzees. As a veterinarian in the Department of Comparative Medicine, the open faculty position provides oversight for the clinical care responsibilities for breeding colonies and experimental animals, implements animal care and welfare standards, and collaborates with investigators by providing research services. This position will provide clinical care to new world and/or old world nonhuman primate species and may support the centralized services of surgery, x-ray, and ultrasonography of this colony. This position may fulfill the role and responsibilities of a clinical veterinarian in nonclinical laboratory studies as defined by FDA 21 CFR Part 58 and may participate in administrative or compliance programs as directed.
