Detailed Overview

Under general supervision of the Manager the OR Booking Clerk prepares, maintains, distributes and makes revisions to the daily and weekly Operating Room (OR) slates using a computerized scheduling system, subject to review by a Registered Nurse. Maintains patient and surgical information by entering data into the computer and reviewing booking forms and filing other records related to booking procedures. Communicates with other OR staff, medical offices, and various hospital departments regarding surgical bookings, changes and revisions to surgical slates; prepares statistical reports to the Ministry of Health. Responsibilities Reviews surgical booking packages for completeness such as surgery to be performed, lab work, pre-admission tests, special equipment needs, surgical assists and computer documentation as per established policies and procedures.
