Summary This position functions as a Painter in the Maintenance and Operations Section of Engineering Service at the Marion, IL VA Health Care System. Responsibilities Prepare, coat, and re-coat both interior and exterior surfaces such as wood, concrete, wallboard, metal and plaster in various areas of the building and grounds. Determine the methods, techniques, devices, and materials that are best suited to the surface finish required and to obtain proper adhesion and finished appearance. Prepare painting materials by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing in various additives. Prepare surfaces by smoothing with sandpaper, filing, shaping, and leveling with metal and synthetic resins, and mixing and applying precoating agents. Ensures that all tools and equipment are properly functioning and are safe for use.
