Patient Transport Technician 2 - Per Diem

Description

Under the direction of a Patient Escort Dispatcher or Supervisor, the Patient Escort safely and professionally transports patients and patient‑related items throughout the UCLA West Valley Medical Center. This role supports a 24/7 operation and works closely with clinical and non‑clinical teams to ensure timely, efficient, and compassionate patient movement.

Key Responsibilities

+ Transport patients throughout the hospital using gurneys, beds, wheelchairs, cribs, and other approved equipment.
+ Safely transport patients requiring oxygen (e.g., nasal cannula, masks, aerosols) and those under isolation precautions, following required safety and PPE protocols.
+ Assist licensed nursing staff with patient transport involving IV pumps, traction equipment, and other medical devices.
+ Apply age‑appropriate care, assessment, and communication to meet the needs of patients and their families.
