Position Summary

A WSSC Water Patrol Officer is a full-time sworn position, certified through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC). The WSSC Water Patrol Officer is responsible for the protection of life and property, preservation of peace and order, prevention and suppression of crime, enforcement of local, state and federal laws, apprehension of law violators, and regulation of traffic within the WSSC Water service area.

Essential Functions

• Patrols a designated area in a vehicle, on foot, all-terrain vehicle (ATV), or motorized boat during an assigned shift to prevent or detect criminal behavior
• Maintains order and observes public safety conditions and circumstances within the WSSC Water district
• Reports hazardous conditions to the appropriate authorities
