Phlebotomist / Laboratory Assistant

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Services, Laboratory Manager, and Laboratory Supervisor. Receives patients, correctly identifies patients, collects specimens from patients, transports specimens, performs clerical functions, and assists technical personnel with assigned non-technical tasks.
Core Job Responsibilities
+ Obtains blood specimens by skin puncture (capillary) or venipuncture using appropriate technique and maintaining the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test performed according to laboratory policy and procedure.
+ Instructs patients in collection of urine, sputum, stool specimens. Accepts these specimens from patients and verifies labeling is complete and accurate.
