Project title:
AURIZOON – Genomic and microbiological surveillance of community-acquired Candida auris: thermal evolution, zoonotic emergency and antifungal resistance from a One Health perspective.

Brief description of the project:
The AURIZOON project addresses the emergency of Candida auris from a One Health approach, integrating human, animal and environmental health. The objective is to study its possible zoonotic and environmental origin, the mechanisms of thermal adaptation and antifungal resistance through microbiological surveillance and complete genomic sequencing (WGS) in clinical, animal and environmental samples. The project combines clinical microbiology, mycology, genomics, bioinformatics and epidemiology, in the context of one of the largest European outbreaks described.
