  About the position:  
 The local government sector is experiencing era-scale change. Central government reform processes with significant implications for our sector are rolling out and we need to plan for a future role which looks very different to the last 30 years. In this context, strategic thinking and analysis is critical to a large organisation like Christchurch City Council.
 A crucial member of the Strategic Policy & Resilience team, the Principal Advisor Policy takes responsibility for:
 Providing thought leadership across a wide range of strategy and policy issues
 Analysing the strategic impacts for Council of the Government reform programme, and in engaging across our sector and central Government
 Mentoring team members analysing a range of complex policy problems
 Providing advice to the operational side of Council
 Challenging existing frameworks and constructively debating the way forward
