This role – Principal Advisor, Teaching Standards – is a 12‑month fixed‑term, full‑time position based in Wellington. It involves setting the foundations for the Ministry’s new Teaching Standards function, including standards, criteria and the Code of Conduct, pending legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide authoritative advice on professional standards and regulatory settings, shaping strategic direction and ensuring alignment with workforce, curriculum and regulatory policy.
• Analyse monitoring information and sector intelligence to identify trends, risks and opportunities, translating findings into actionable insights for governance and ministerial decision‑making.
