Principal Designer

The Role

As Principal Designeryou will be providing expert advice, planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating health and safety in the pre-construction phase of several simultaneously running complex substation projects, that typically include transformer/ switchgear replacements, new GIS arrangements, cable route connections, etc. This will include: identifying, eliminating or controlling foreseeable risks; ensuring designers carry out their duties.

Key Activities

• Ensure the company maintain compliance with their statutory duties as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor under the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
• Chair and coordinate Design Risk Review meetings throughout all stages of Design and Construction and maintain the associated Design Risk Register.
• Apply the principles of prevention to identify and eliminate unusual and significant hazards as well as control foreseeable risks.
