Production Editor (Toronto Hybrid)

Production Editor — HarperCollins Canada

Reports to: Assistant Manager, Production Editorial. Regular full‑time position located in Toronto (22 Adelaide StW.).

Responsibilities

• Handle production editorial work from manuscript through bound book for a variety of formats, including novels and nonfiction titles across varied genres and subject matter.
• Assess and style manuscripts using proprietary Microsoft Word and Harper’s software for copyediting, design, and composition.
• Hire freelance copy editors and indexers and oversee their work.
• Collate and process proofreads and slugs in Adobe Acrobat, checking all stages of proofs and PDFs for interiors.
• Copyedit flap and back cover copy, proofread and check all stages of jacket/cover proofs.
• Work with editors, designers, authors, managing editors, and production managers to anticipate and resolve issues.
• Evaluate and coordinate artwork as needed.
