The company began operations in 1954 as a Philippine licensee of Merck and Company (MSD) from New Jersey, USA, initially manufacturing Penicillin G Sodium and Streptomycin Injections under MSD's technical supervision. In 1976, YSS Lab relocated its sterile manufacturing facilities to U.N. Avenue, Manila, and became a licensee for repacking imported MSD products distributed locally by Cathay Drug Company.
