Job Description

 OPD is a central clinic to which patients requiring an expert opinion can be referred for specialist consultation.
 Nurses in OPD work with a variety of clinic specialties. It is the responsibility of the key clinic nurse to ensure that all clinic requirements are met and to prepare and manage the clinic.
 This involves:
 Ensuring all relevant data available in patients’ notes;
 Obtaining relevant imaging reports;
 Ensuring imaging available either on PACS or film;
 Obtaining results from investigations;
 Ensuring equipment is available;
 Preparing the patient and being an advocate for her/him;
 Checking communication needs, e.g. interpreter required
 Advanced MAP and computer skills are essential. 
 The ability to problem solve using the resources around you is important. 
 You must be able to communicate well with your consultant to problem solve in a timely manner.
